"Maria go to the river" is a journey-show both the outer and the inner place. H course Mary is each course, life itself, or even everyday life. H show gives importance to the confusion we experience fear often, almost always, our states and our incessant need to find a personal truth.
Maria goes to the river is a dance-piece talking about displacement, about our journeys in History, in space, about travels in our mind. The title is playfuuly refering to folk songs and stories but Maria's travel refers to all travels, to life itself. It refers to the way we approach notions courierbox and values that we defend. It refers, even, to everyday routines and everyday actions and decisions. The piece looks straight into the confusion of life and searches movements and rhythms to express it. There is an underlying, subtle and suggestive, connection to the Social reality in Greece but it does not want to trap the audience or get trapped in this narative. It searches through fear which often, almost always, defines us. It explores our inexplicable need to find something true.
